Cross Country

Be sure to check out our website HERE to meet our coaches and find out more information!

7th and 8th Grade Girls and Boys Cross Country begins in August and ends with the District Championships in mid October. Cross Country allows runners of all abilities to compete at two different distances--the mile and the 2 mile.  There are three different teams--A, B, and C--for both boys and girls.  The A and B teams typically race the 2 mile distance, whereas C team members race one mile.  Medals are awarded to the top 5 to 20 finishers, depending on the size of the event and number of schools, in each of these races.

Head Coach Cindy Cameron and Assistants Michael Katsbulas and Benjamin Cox had a great season with many successes in 2019.  8th grader, Kennedy Cash, became the first Westridge runner to win the Individual District A Team Championship Title, and 8th grader, Angela Anthony, was close behind finishing second!  In addition, our top 7th grade runner, Lydia Safly, placed 6th and was the district’s top 7th grade finisher!  The Westridge Girls’ team finished an impressive second in the Championships. After the conclusion of the season, both Kennedy and Angela competed in the state championships in Emporia, which is open to all middle school runners across the entire state of Kansas, and the two girls finished 3rd and 7th respectively.  We are so proud to have such amazing talent compete and represent our school.  We are truly proud of all of our runners, boys and girls, on teams C, B, and A, who competed, won medals, captured titles, or ran their personal best times by the end of the season!  To see more highlights from last season, please copy and view this link--https://westridgecrosscountry2019.weebly.com/

Soon Coach Cameron will be creating a website for our 2020 season and posting the schedule for the upcoming races!  We are looking forward to seeing our runners for the 2020 season featured on it in photos and in results!
